Do you know how snails became a product that cannot be ignored in the French gastronomy?
One talks about snails from Bourgogne because in year 1814 a quartermaster of Napoléon ate with Tsar Aleandre I in a Burgundian restaurant. There were late so the Chef had nothing to cook: he chose snails from his garden for the two men !
When Tsar Alexandre II went back to Russia he asked his Chef snails with the same recipe : garlic, parsley, butter, salt and pepper !
